Starting August 17, 2004 Union Pacific and BNSF Railroads are raising intermodal rates from the West Coast.  The rate increase from the Northwest per container is $45.00 and from California it's $95.00.
Canadian National Railways is increasing its storage charges.  In the Brampton Intermodal Terminal in Toronto, starting July 19, 2004, containers received between Monday and Friday get two days of free time and the traffic arriving on the weekend gets three free days. A container that exceeds its free time will be charge $150.00 per day.  At all other US and Canadian facilities there are three free days of storage and containers staying longer than three days will be charged $57.00 per day.
