The United States
National Do Not Call Registry is now
available. The Registry, managed by the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC), is a database of phone numbers that may not be used by most
telemarketers for sales and marketing calls to your home or
business. The FTC expects that telemarketing calls will be
reduced significantly once the registry goes into effect on October
1st of this year.
Adding your phone number to the National Do Not Call Registry is
free and easy. Simply use your Internet browser to access http://donotcall.gov.
As long as you have a valid e-mail address, this site allows you to
register up to 3 phone numbers that you would like added to the
registry. More information can be found at the FTC's web site at
http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall.
