24-Hour Rule for Canada

Published 20030415

As reported in the Canada Customs and Review Agency (CCRA) last Friday, Canada will impose the same 24-hour prior notice on ocean bound imports as its southern neighbor.  The date the 24-hour rule takes effect, however, will not be until April, 2004.  This allows freight forwarders and ocean carriers to adjust business operations in anticipation of the 24-hour requirements.
